The central government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is set to release the 22nd instalment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM Kisan Scheme) on March 13, 2026, during the Prime Minister’s visit to Guwahati. This instalment will provide Rs 2,000 to each eligible farmer, as part of the government’s ongoing effort to support the agriculture sector through direct financial assistance.
According to senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, approximately Rs 19,000 crore will be disbursed to 9.32 crore farmers across India in this 22nd instalment. The timely release, ahead of the Kharif crop sowing season, is expected to help farmers purchase essential agricultural inputs such as seeds, fertilisers, and pesticides.

Rs 6,000 Annual Support under PM Kisan Scheme
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-Kisan), launched in February 2019 by PM Modi, provides financial support of Rs 6,000 per year to all eligible farmers. This annual amount is distributed in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each, typically in February-March, June-July, and October.
The primary goal of the PM Kisan scheme is to reduce the financial burden on farmers while increasing their income. With the 22nd instalment, the scheme continues to be one of India’s most impactful direct benefit transfer (DBT) programs for the agriculture sector.
Previous Instalments of PM Kisan
The 21st instalment of PM Kisan was released on 19 November 2025, followed by the 20th instalment in August 2025 and the 19th in February 2025. Cumulatively, Rs 4.09 lakh crore has been transferred to millions of farmers under the PM-Kisan scheme till now, reflecting the government’s sustained commitment to empowering India’s farming community.
Farmers and stakeholders have welcomed the announcement, highlighting that the PM Kisan 22nd instalment will provide timely support for agricultural activities and help sustain livelihoods, particularly in rural areas dependent on crop cycles.
The 22nd PM Kisan instalment release reaffirms the government’s pledge to support farmers financially, enhance agricultural productivity, and strengthen India’s rural economy.
