PM Modi approves ₹19,142 crore 6-lane Greenfield Corridor in Maharashtra, boosting connectivity, reducing travel time, and generating employment across Nashik, Solapur, and other districts.
In a significant push for integrated transportation infrastructure, PM Narendra Modi-led Central Cabinet for Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the construction of a 6-lane Greenfield, access-controlled Nashik-Solapur-Akkalkot Corridor in Maharashtra on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. The corridor, developed under the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, will span 374 kilometers and is estimated to cost approximately ₹19,142 crore under the BOT (toll) model.
The corridor will connect key cities such as Nashik, Ahilyanagar, and Solapur, eventually extending connectivity to Karnool. It is designed to enhance the integrated transport framework, improve travel efficiency, and provide seamless logistics solutions for industrial hubs like NICDC’s Kopparthi and Orvakal. The project also complements the development of the Nashik-Talegaon Dighe section of the Pune-Nashik Expressway, identified as a critical new expressway initiative by the Maharashtra government under NICDC guidance.

Objective and Benefits of the 6-Lane Greenfield Corridor
The primary objective of this access-controlled corridor is to reduce travel time and increase transportation efficiency. Designed for high-speed traffic with a design speed of 100 km/h and an average operational speed of 60 km/h, the corridor will reduce travel time from the current 31 hours to just 17 hours—a 45% reduction. This ensures safe, fast, and uninterrupted connectivity for both passenger and freight vehicles.
Beyond enhancing travel efficiency, the corridor is expected to drive economic growth across Maharashtra. It will strengthen infrastructure in Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Dharashiv, and Solapur districts, improving overall regional connectivity and contributing to local development.
Employment Generation and Economic Impact
The ₹19,142 crore Greenfield Corridor Project will generate approximately 2.51 million direct human-days and 3.13 million indirect human-days of employment. Additionally, the corridor’s development will stimulate economic activity in the surrounding areas, creating further employment opportunities and supporting regional industrial growth.
The 6-lane Nashik-Solapur-Akkalkot corridor is not only a major infrastructure milestone for Maharashtra but also a strategic initiative aligned with PM Modi’s vision under the GatiShakti plan to integrate transport networks, boost logistics efficiency, and enhance economic development across India.
