Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his heartfelt greetings to the people of India on the successful conclusion of the four-day Chhath Puja, one of the country’s most revered festivals dedicated to Sun God and Chhathi Maiya. He also prayed for the health, prosperity, and well-being of all devotees participating in the rituals.
Divine Glimpse of Cultural Tradition Observed
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi expressed his joy on the festival’s completion, saying, “Today, the Chhath Mahaparv concluded with the offering of Arghya to the rising Sun God. During these four days, we witnessed the divine and magnificent traditions of Chhath Puja.”
The Prime Minister also extended his best wishes to all devotees, saying, “Heartfelt greetings to all the devotees and families who participated in this sacred festival. May Chhathi Maiya’s boundless blessings illuminate your lives forever.”

Sunrise Offerings Across the Nation
On Tuesday morning, thousands of devotees across India offered ‘Usha Arghya’ to the rising sun, marking the culmination of the Chhath festival. People gathered along riverbanks, ponds, and ghats to perform the rituals, praying for prosperity and well-being.
In Bihar, major ghats witnessed large crowds, with devotees carefully placing flowers, fruits, and other offerings as part of the sacred rituals. Security personnel were deployed at key ghats to ensure smooth conduct of the ceremonies.
Devotional Chants and Rituals Fill the Air
At Delhi’s Yamuna Ghats, devotees thronged to offer Arghya to the rising sun. The ITO Hathi Ghat was illuminated with chants and devotional songs, creating a spiritual atmosphere for the festival’s final day. Similarly, in Varanasi, large gatherings were observed at major ghats, including Shastri Ghat, where devotees performed the concluding rituals with devotion and reverence.
Four-Day Festival Timeline
Chhath Puja began on October 25 with the ‘Nahay-Khay’ ritual, followed by ‘Kharna’ on October 26. The evening ‘Sandhya Arghya’ was observed on October 27, and the festival concluded with the morning ‘Usha Arghya’ on October 28, bringing this sacred four-day celebration to a devout and vibrant close.
