PM Modi gifts UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed a hand-carved wooden jhula and Pashmina shawl, highlighting India’s craftsmanship and cultural heritage during his official visit.
In a gesture of cultural diplomacy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with a Royal Carved Wooden Jhula during his official visit to India. The exquisite gift, originating from Gujarat, is a hand-carved swing adorned with intricate floral and traditional designs, reflecting India’s rich craftsmanship.
The wooden jhula, a staple in many Gujarati households, holds deep cultural significance. It symbolizes family togetherness, bonding across generations, and meaningful conversations—a theme that aligns perfectly with the UAE’s 2026 declaration as the “Year of Family.”

Alongside the jhula, PM Modi gifted a Kashmiri Pashmina shawl encased in an ornate silver box to the UAE President. The Pashmina, made from the finest wool, is lightweight, soft, and warm, while the silver box, crafted in Telangana, showcases the finest Indian handicraft traditions.
Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Al Ketbi also received a Pashmina shawl in a silver box, along with premium Kashmiri saffron, renowned for its deep crimson strands and distinct aroma, cultivated in the Kashmir Valley.
The gifts reflect India’s centuries-old tradition of handloom and handicraft excellence while strengthening diplomatic ties between India and the UAE. PM Modi personally welcomed the UAE President and his family at his residence on Lok Kalyan Marg, marking the beginning of an official visit focused on enhancing bilateral relations and cultural exchange.
This thoughtful exchange of gifts highlights India’s commitment to showcasing its rich cultural heritage while nurturing friendships with global partners.
