New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday praised the Digital India initiative, stating that it has transformed governance, empowered citizens, and accelerated India’s overall development. Marking 11 years of the programme, he said the Digital India initiative has given the country a new global identity in the digital era.
Digital India Initiative Redefines Governance and Public Services
In a post on X, PM Modi said the Digital India initiative has reshaped governance by making public services more transparent, efficient, and accessible. He highlighted that digital systems such as direct benefit transfers and online public services have significantly improved ease of living for citizens.
The Prime Minister noted that the Digital India initiative has reduced delays, paperwork, and inefficiencies that once defined public service delivery, replacing them with seamless digital platforms.

According to him, the Digital India initiative has enabled citizens from all regions to participate in the digital economy, boosting inclusion and opportunity.

The Prime Minister said the Digital India has encouraged young entrepreneurs, startups, and innovators to develop solutions for real-world challenges. He added that India’s growing digital ecosystem is now driving advancements in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and quantum computing.
He further stated that the Digital India is laying the foundation for a future-ready economy powered by innovation and technology.
Digital India Strengthens Economy and Global Standing
PM Modi said the Digital India initiative has strengthened key sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and commerce. He highlighted that India now leads global real-time digital payments, with the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) accounting for a significant share of global transactions.
He added that the Digital India initiative has become the backbone of India’s digital economy and is central to the vision of a self-reliant and developed nation.

Reflecting on 11 years of the Digital India , PM Modi said the programme has empowered the poor and improved governance across all levels. He stated that when over a billion citizens adopt technology, the impact becomes transformative for the entire nation.
