Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to safeguarding the future of students, stating that strict action has been taken against those involved in the NEET paper leak case. Addressing NDA Members of Parliament during the ‘Mangal Milan’ meeting on Tuesday, the Prime Minister stressed that no one would be allowed to jeopardize the future of the country’s youth.
His remarks came amid nationwide discussions over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and protests demanding greater accountability in the examination system.
Government Acted Swiftly After Paper Leak Reports
According to Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, who briefed the media after the meeting, the Prime Minister informed MPs that the government responded immediately after reports of the paper leak surfaced.
He said 13 accused were arrested and sent to jail as part of the investigation. The Prime Minister emphasized that those responsible for compromising the integrity of competitive examinations would face strict legal consequences.

Students’ Academic Future Was Given Top Priority
PM Modi highlighted that the government ensured deserving students did not suffer because of the controversy. To minimize academic disruption, the NEET re-examination was conducted on priority, and the results were announced without unnecessary delay.
He said the government’s focus remained on protecting students’ interests while ensuring transparency and fairness in the examination process.
Strict Measures Introduced to Prevent Future Paper Leaks
The Prime Minister told NDA MPs that several preventive measures have already been implemented to reduce the possibility of similar incidents in the future.
He also called for the strictest possible punishment for those involved in examination fraud, stating that legal action should be pursued with the support of the country’s best legal experts so that such crimes receive exemplary punishment.
Centre and States Must Work Together
Emphasizing that paper leaks are a national concern rather than a political issue, PM Modi urged all state governments to cooperate with the Centre regardless of political differences.
He said protecting the credibility of India’s examination system requires a coordinated effort between the Union and the states, adding that the issue directly affects millions of students and the country’s future.
Focus on Transparent and Fair Examinations
The Prime Minister reiterated that maintaining transparency, accountability and trust in competitive examinations remains a top priority for the government. He said reforms aimed at strengthening examination security and preventing malpractice will continue to be implemented.
According to the government, ensuring a fair examination process is essential for protecting students’ aspirations and strengthening confidence in India’s education system.
