AAP Punjab launches “Humare Ram” theatrical shows to engage Hindu voters; 40 performances across districts aim to spread Lord Ram’s message and strengthen community outreach.
The Punjab government has approved a special initiative to organize theatrical shows based on the life of Lord Ram. Titled “Humare Ram”, 40 shows will be staged across various districts in the state, following approval in the state cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to use these shows as a medium to engage with the Hindu vote bank in Punjab. Party officials confirmed that the cabinet passed the proposal to conduct 40 theatrical performances across key districts, highlighting the values and teachings of Lord Ram.
Strategic Move in Punjab Politics
Political analysts believe this move is part of AAP’s broader sectarian political strategy, aimed at strengthening the party’s appeal among voters who hold a deep faith in Lord Ram. Punjab has a significant population with strong religious sentiments, and the government is ensuring inclusivity by respecting all religions, sects, castes, and communities while expanding its political outreach.

Caste-Based Cells to Guide Policies
Traditionally, the Shiromani Akali Dal has been considered the primary party practicing sectarian politics in Punjab. However, their influence is largely confined to specific voter groups. With this initiative, AAP is signaling its intent to expand its sectarian approach while maintaining inclusivity. The party has established caste-based cells to design welfare schemes after consulting representatives from different communities, ensuring broad-based support across Punjab.
Previous Religious Engagements Strengthened Strategy
Earlier, AAP had successfully engaged with religious communities in Anandpur Sahib and Fatehgarh Sahib through special events. Party leaders and ministers were also present at Christian events during Christmas, showing the party’s emphasis on inclusive outreach. Now, AAP aims to strengthen ties with communities deeply devoted to Lord Ram through the Humare Ram shows.
Finance Minister Highlights Lord Ram’s Universal Appeal
Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema emphasized that Lord Ram is revered by all and that his ideals and principles guide disciplined and ethical living. Cheema stated that the government intends to convey the teachings of Lord Ram through these shows. A dedicated budget has been approved for this initiative, with the 40 shows scheduled across various districts.
Cheema further added that AAP respects all religions and communities, striving for Punjab’s prosperity by including everyone in its developmental journey. According to the minister, the party considers people from all social and religious backgrounds worthy of recognition and engagement.
