Infosys’ ₹286 crore Mohali project drives Punjab industrial growth, creating 2,700 direct jobs and thousands of indirect employment opportunities.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced a landmark development for the state’s economy with the groundbreaking ceremony of Infosys’ ₹286 crore campus in Mohali. The project is expected to generate direct employment for 2,700 youth and thousands of indirect jobs, marking a significant milestone in Punjab industrial growth.
Since March 2022, Punjab has attracted investment proposals worth over ₹1,55,000 crore, creating job opportunities for more than 5,44,000 young people. Highlighting the state’s industrial revival, CM Mann said that investors who had previously left due to extortion and arm-twisting are now returning with confidence, signaling a decisive turnaround in Punjab industrial growth.
Speaking about the Infosys project, CM Mann said, “The new integrated campus will include a Software Development Block, Food Court, and other modern facilities. With a built-up area of 3,50,000 square feet and seating for 3,000 employees, this project will not only generate employment but also strengthen Punjab’s position as a hub for technology and innovation.”

The Chief Minister emphasized that the upcoming Progressive Punjab Investment Summit, scheduled from March 13 to 15 in Mohali, will further catalyze Punjab industrial growth. “These three days will be instrumental in scripting a new success story for Punjab’s economy,” he said.
CM Mann also cited other major industrial investments, including the country’s second-largest Tata Steel project worth ₹3,200 crore in Ludhiana, which will provide jobs to 2,500 youth, reinforcing the state’s momentum in Punjab industrial growth.
Highlighting Punjab’s investor-friendly policies, CM Mann said, “The state offers reasonable power tariffs, transparent single-window clearance, and a robust business environment. Punjab now ranks first in Ease of Doing Business and has become the first state to pass the Right to Business Act.”
Infosys’ global reputation and the participation of other international companies such as Nestlé, Claas, Freudenberg Group, Cargill, Verbio, and Danone, along with investors from Japan, the USA, Germany, UK, UAE, Switzerland, France, and Spain, further demonstrate Punjab’s rising stature in industrial growth.
Concluding, CM Mann emphasized that the government’s aim is to provide employment opportunities to youth, ensuring they contribute to the economy rather than fall prey to social evils. He stated, “Idle hands are the devil’s workshop. By creating jobs, Punjab is ensuring productive engagement of its young workforce, strengthening both social and economic fabric.”
With strategic initiatives and a focus on industrial development, Punjab is now poised for unprecedented industrial growth, positioning Mohali and other regions as emerging global investment hubs.
