Under Mission Rozgar, CM Bhagwant Mann delivers 818 appointment letters, taking the total to 65,264 government jobs in Punjab.
In a significant push to the state’s employment landscape, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday handed over appointment letters to 818 youth across various departments. This latest recruitment drive under the Mission Rozgar initiative marks a historic milestone, bringing the total number of government jobs provided by the AAP government to 65,264 within just four years.
Addressing the gathering at Vikas Bhawan, CM Mann emphasized that the era of “sifarish” (recommendations) and bribes is over. He noted that the Mission Rozgar initiative has successfully restored the faith of Punjab’s youth in the administrative system by ensuring that every single vacancy is filled strictly on the basis of merit and transparency.
Breaking the Decade-Long Stagnation
Reflecting on the previous administrations, the Chief Minister stated that for over a decade, the youth were systematically denied opportunities.
“Traditional parties played musical chairs with power while the youth waited in vain for jobs. These leaders thought only of their families, but under Mission Rozgar, we think only of the common man’s kitchen and his dignity,” CM Mann remarked.
The 818 new recruits include:
459 in the Power Department (PSPCL)
215 in the Local Government Department
129 in Health and Family Welfare
15 Professors and Assistant Professors in Medical Education
The CM further announced that the Mission Rozgar momentum will continue, with the recruitment of an additional 1,750 candidates for the Power Department already underway and expected to conclude by June 2026.

From ‘Drug Syringes’ to ‘Lunchboxes’
In an emotional appeal, CM Mann stated that his ultimate goal is to replace drug syringes with lunchboxes. He highlighted that by providing employment within the state, the government is successfully triggering “reverse migration.”
“Our youth no longer need to go abroad for employment, treatment, or education. We are building a ‘Rangla Punjab’ where jobs are available at their doorsteps,” he added. This sentiment was echoed by several recruits, including Sukhmanpreet Singh from Patiala, who returned from Canada specifically to join the Punjab government service.
Welfare Beyond Employment
The Chief Minister also touched upon broader social security measures, specifically the Mukh Mantri Mavaan Dhian Satkar scheme. Under this initiative, women over 18 will receive financial assistance of ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 per month. He dismissed critics of the scheme, stating that those who spend thousands on a single meal cannot understand the value of ₹1,000 for a struggling household.
The event featured moving testimonials from candidates:
Dharminder Singh, a former brick kiln laborer, secured a government job through the competitive process.
Dr. Navjot Singh Mann revealed that dental doctors have been recruited in the state after a staggering gap of 36 years.
Tajinder Singh from Ferozepur shared that despite his family’s fear of needing a bribe, he secured his position without spending a single penny.
With Mission Rozgar becoming a cornerstone of the Punjab government’s governance model, the state is witnessing a structural shift toward industrial growth and professional stability for its youth.
