RAJSTHAN NEWS : The Minister for Water Resources, Shri Suresh Singh Rawat chaired a review meeting on the preparedness of ‘Vande Ganga’ Jal Sanrakshan – Jan Abhiyan on Sunday. Shri Rawat said that under the able leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, work is being given top priority by taking policy decisions for water and environment conservation. In this sequence, the state-wide ‘Vande Ganga’ water conservation-people campaign will be launched on the occasion of World Environment Day and Ganga Dashami on June 5, 2025.
Rawat said that during the campaign, various programmes like Jal Pujan at water sources, rivers, streams and ponds, Kalash Yatra, awareness programs and cleanliness drive, dedication of water harvesting structures and foundation stone of new structures will be organised. Shri Rawat said that as per the intention of the Chief Minister, every village and every person should be connected with the campaign and it should be given the form of a mass movement. He directed the officials to complete all the preparations in a time-bound manner.
The Water Resources Minister said that this campaign will make ‘Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Abhiyan’, ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan – Jan Bhagidari Jan Bhagidari’, ‘Hariyalo Rajasthan’, ‘Karma Bhoomi to Matri Bhoomi’ etc. campaigns more people-centric. He called upon the Bhamashahs, public representatives, voluntary organisations, employees and the general public to make the campaign a people’s movement.
In the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Abhay Kumar gave necessary directions to the engineers for preparedness. Chief Engineer Mr. Bhuvan Bhaskar gave details of the campaign and flood control and safety measures. Senior officials of the department also attended the meeting.
