CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that water conservation is very important in a state like Rajasthan with heterogeneous geographical conditions. For this, our government is paying special attention to increasing the ground water level and water conservation. For this purpose, the state government will run Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan – Jan Abhiyan across the state from 5th to 20th June. Shri Sharma said that under the campaign, construction of water harvesting structures, cleaning of water sources, rejuvenation of traditional water bodies, environment and water conservation activities will be organised. This campaign will take the form of a mass movement only with the participation of every person in it.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma was reviewing the preparedness of the programmes under Vande Ganga Jal Sanrakshan – Jan Abhiyan at a meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence on Sunday. He said that it is a happy coincidence that this time World Environment Day and Ganga Dussehra are on the same day on 5th June. We will launch our campaign on this day and connect environment conservation with our tradition and culture by organising Vande Ganga Kalash Yatra and puja programmes at water bodies.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure participation of every department in the campaign and ensure smooth conduct of all activities with mutual coordination. CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that all the works and activities should be monitored and updated daily to ensure the success of the campaign.
Water conservation works to be launched in villages
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that on the first day of the campaign, at least one work of water conservation should be started in the villages of the state. Participation of more and more people should be ensured by making Jal Mitras at the village level. He said that in the meetings of Gramme Sabhas, the work related to water conservation should be outlined by giving special importance to this campaign.
Don’t let rainwater go waste
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that under this campaign, works of new water harvesting and water conservation structures will be launched. Along with these works, the repair work of dams, anicuts and canals should be done on priority to prevent wastage of water in the rains, so that rainwater can be collected in the monsoon and the groundwater level can be increased.
The participation of government employees should also be ensured.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma said that Shramdaan should be done by involving more and more people including voluntary organisations, government employees in the work of cleaning water storage structures and reservoirs. At the district level, joint shramdaan should be conducted by different departments every day. Also, resolve programmes regarding water conservation should be organised in government offices. Individuals and institutions doing commendable work in the campaign should also be honoured.
Cooperation of Bhamashahs expected in Mathrubhumi campaign from Karmabhoomi
The Chief Minister said that on June 10, the works done under the Karmabhoomi to Mathrubhumi campaign will be dedicated and new works will be approved. CM Bhajan Lal Sharma directed that financial support for this campaign should be taken through Bhamashahs and CSR funding.
Widespread campaign
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma directed to give adequate publicity to the campaign through social media and various mediums. He said that for maximum public participation in the campaign, people’s representatives, religious leaders, women associated with Rajivika and Anganwadi workers should be made aware of water conservation by appealing to them. People should be made aware about water conservation through video films, songs, street plays etc. More and more trees should be planted by informing the general public about the availability of plants in nurseries.
