AAP leader Praveen Ram reveals the real reason behind Raju Karpada’s resignation, citing concerns over two old legal cases and political pressure. Full details here.
Praveen Ram: The resignation of Raju Karpada has sparked widespread political discussion, and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and state president of the party’s frontal organization, Praveen Ram, has now shed light on the real reason behind it. According to Ram, Karpada was deeply concerned about two of his old legal cases even while serving time in jail.
Praveen Ram revealed that he and Karpada spent 108 days together in jail, first in Bhavnagar and later in Rajkot. During this period, Karpada repeatedly expressed his anxiety about the two cases registered under Section 307. One of these cases dates back to 2015, while the second case was registered afterward. In one of the cases, the Surendranagar court had sentenced Karpada to five years, while the other case was still pending. Several family members were also involved in the second case.
Ram stated, “Even in jail, Karpada often shared his fears with me. He was worried that he might be convicted in one or both cases, which would prevent him from contesting elections. The BJP allegedly used these old cases as pressure tactics, trying to intimidate him and force his resignation. To avoid returning to jail and losing his eligibility to contest, Karpada ultimately decided to resign. This is the real reason behind his resignation.”

Praveen Ram further hinted at Karpada’s future political alignment, stating that the public will soon know which party he joins. However, Ram suggested that if Karpada joins the BJP, it would indicate that his resignation was induced through pressure tactics, rather than genuine dissatisfaction. “If someone resigns purely out of anger, they typically do not join another party immediately. So, the truth will soon emerge,” he said.
Ram also raised questions regarding Karpada’s early release from jail. On the day of his bail, Karpada reportedly left the jail late at night, after 7 PM. Ram has urged the administrations of Rajkot and Bhavnagar jails to release CCTV footage to clarify the timeline and circumstances of Karpada’s release, ensuring transparency and accountability.
This revelation adds a new dimension to the political debate surrounding Raju Karpada’s resignation and has intensified scrutiny on the role of political pressure in legal matters.
