The Supreme Court has sought information from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the alleged Ram Temple donation theft case in Ayodhya. A bench headed by Chief Justice of India has directed the SIT to submit a status report on the investigation and has also issued notice to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
The matter will be heard next on July 20, after the court reviews the progress report submitted by the investigation team.

During the hearing, the Supreme Court observed that reviewing the SIT status report would be appropriate before considering the petitions filed in the matter. The court has also sought details about the members involved in the special investigation team.
The Ram Temple donation theft case came before the Supreme Court through four petitions seeking further investigation and greater transparency in the management of temple donations.
Petitions Seek CBI Probe and Financial Transparency
The petitions have been filed by lawyer Narendra Kumar Goswami, lawyer Ajay Kumar Rai, RJD MP Sudhakar Singh, and Hindu Dharma Parishad.
The petitioners have demanded that the investigation be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and that a special SIT be formed to look into the allegations. They have also sought the formation of an expert committee to review issues related to donation management.

Demand for Audit and Public Disclosure of Donations
The petitioners have requested an independent forensic audit of the trust’s financial records and have demanded that details of donations received by the temple be made publicly available through an official platform.
They argued that the matter is connected to the faith of millions of devotees and requires a transparent system for managing contributions.
Court Reviews Allegations Related to Temple Donations
The Ram Temple donation theft case has raised questions regarding the handling and security of offerings made by devotees at the temple. The petitioners have requested the Supreme Court to ensure proper monitoring and transparent management of the trust’s assets.
The Supreme Court bench, comprising Chief Justice of India along with Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohan, decided to wait for the SIT report before proceeding further.
