The Delhi Capitals (DC), captained by Rishabh Pant, defeated the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 20 runs to secure their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 victory.

In the DC vs. CSK IPL 2024 match, captain Rishabh Pant of the Delhi Capitals (DC) was fined ₹12 lakh for violating the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct. At Visakhapatnam’s Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on Sunday, March 31, the Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) upset the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 20 runs to win their first match of the season.

Pant has been fined, according to a statement released by the Indian Premier League (IPL) organizers, for Delhi Capitals’ poor over rate against the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 31.

“Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on March 31.”

“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Pant was fined Rs 12 lakhs.”

After a run of poor performances, Rishabh Pant made a stunning return against Chennai Super Kings by playing a forceful innings. Pant advanced the Delhi Capitals’ innings by building on the platform set by Prithvi Shaw and David Warner, the team’s openers.

With four boundaries and three massive sixes, Pant’s scorching 51 runs off only 32 deliveries gave the DC innings the much-needed boost.

With five wickets remaining, the Delhi Capitals captain was instrumental in leading his team to victory as they successfully pursued the 191-run mark.

Pant’s return to form and Delhi Capitals’ victory over the five-time IPL champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are encouraging signs notwithstanding the fine. On April 3, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders will play their next match.
