Samsung Galaxy Watch: Samsung’s next Galaxy watch could look like an Apple Watch
Samsung Galaxy Watch
A new report suggests that the next Samsung Galaxy Watch will get a major redesign that will take us back to the days of the Galaxy Gear 2.
Samsung may be planning a redesign of its popular Galaxy Watch model. Current Galaxy Watch models had round dials, but a new report says they will now feature rectangular displays. This isn’t a first for Samsung, as some of its early smartwatches had rectangular watch faces. Wear OS smartwatches have used a circular design for a different look, but Samsung’s reported plans suggest the next Galaxy Watch could look similar to the Apple Watch.

New Galaxy Watch design
Sammobile reports that Samsung is “eagerly” considering changes to the design of the upcoming Galaxy Watch, and that a change is “highly likely.” While the report does not say when the design overhaul will take place, there is a possibility that the upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 will come with a rectangular watch face. Samsung usually releases its new generation of flagship smartwatches around early to mid-July. Only then can we finally see the official design of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch. Preliminary leaks and rumours may provide a clue.
The design of the Galaxy Watch is not entirely new
Launched a decade ago, the Samsung Galaxy Gear, Gear and Gear Live were also available in square designs, but round smartwatches have taken their place because the design is different from the Apple Watch. The Galaxy Gear S2 was the first smartwatch to feature a circular design and a physically rotating bezel. Most Galaxy Watch buyers like the bezel, but switching to a square design comes at a price.
More details about the Galaxy Watch 7
According to earlier rumours, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 will use a new 3nm chipset, which will bring dramatic performance changes compared to the 5nm Exynos W930 chipset in the Galaxy Watch 6 series. Thanks to significant improvements in the latest version of Wear, the expected battery life on the Galaxy Watch 7 operating system will increase. The Galaxy Watch 7 series could increase its appeal, as the current models can last all day. More details about the Galaxy Watch 7 series and the design will be revealed before the expected launch in July.
