Saurabh Bharadwaj challenges BJP MLA Anil Sharma to show MCD-approved map, completion certificate and Fire NOC for the alleged PG.
The political dispute over a paying guest (PG) facility in Delhi has intensified, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) questioning the legality of the property allegedly linked to BJP MLA Anil Sharma. AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj has challenged Sharma to make the relevant documents public if the PG and its construction are legally approved.
Addressing a press conference at the AAP headquarters on Thursday, Saurabh Bharadwaj asked the BJP MLA to produce the MCD-approved building plan, completion certificate and fire safety clearance for the property.
AAP Questions Legality of Commercial PG
According to Saurabh Bharadwaj, the issue is not about where Anil Sharma resides but about the alleged commercial operation of a PG facility. He questioned how a property reportedly having around 200 beds could be used commercially without the necessary approvals and safety certificates.
The AAP leader also claimed that Sharma had earlier denied having a PG but later displayed a property registration document during a press conference. Bharadwaj said that merely showing a registration document to the media was not enough and demanded that the complete document be uploaded in the public domain.
Demand for Property Registration Documents
Bharadwaj sought details about the size and ownership of the land, including the number of square yards covered by the registration. He also questioned how the property came into the possession of Sharma’s family.
He said that if the BJP MLA makes his registration documents public, the AAP is prepared to examine historical records related to the land. Saurabh Bharadwaj also alleged that Sharma should provide documentary evidence rather than relying only on verbal explanations.
MCD Map, Completion Certificate and Fire NOC
The AAP president specifically asked Anil Sharma to show whether the reported 300–400 square yard commercial building was constructed on the basis of an MCD-approved plan.
He further demanded the completion certificate and fire safety certificate, arguing that such documents would be relevant if a hostel-type property with around 200 beds is being used commercially as a PG.
Bharadwaj said that if the construction is legally approved, producing the documents should settle the controversy.
BJP’s Role in MCD Also Questioned
During the press conference, Bharadwaj also rejected claims that unauthorized constructions being discussed were created during the tenure of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He argued that the AAP did not control the MCD in the manner being alleged and pointed to the BJP’s long association with the civic body.

He also highlighted Anil Sharma’s previous role in the MCD and said that the BJP MLA should therefore clarify the status of the construction and its approvals.
AAP Raises Questions Over Viral Videos
Bharadwaj referred to two videos involving Anil Sharma. He claimed that one showed the BJP MLA denying any connection with a PG, while another showed him displaying property registration papers.
The AAP leader argued that the apparent difference between the statements has raised questions that can only be addressed through publicly available documents.
BJP Functionary’s PG Promotion Also Mentioned
The AAP also raised questions about a video allegedly posted by Rajesh Chaurangi, described by Bharadwaj as the BJP’s Vasant Vihar Mandal president and a former spokesperson for the New Delhi BJP.
According to Bharadwaj, the video promotes a PG and highlights its size and facilities. He also referred to photographs available on Chaurangi’s social media profile with several BJP leaders.
Students’ Alleged Threat Claims Highlighted
The controversy also extends to accounts shared by students regarding the Satya Niketan PG incident. Bharadwaj claimed that videos circulating on social media feature students from states including Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh discussing PG operations in the area and allegedly mentioning BJP-linked individuals.
He further claimed that a female student alleged that some locals photographed students during media interactions and warned them against speaking about the matter or naming anyone.
These allegations have not been independently established based solely on the statements made at the press conference.
Saurabh Bharadwaj called for the relevant property and construction documents to be made public, arguing that an MCD-approved plan, completion certificate, fire clearance and registration papers would help establish the legal status of the PG and address the questions being raised by the AAP.
