AAP Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj slams the BJP and Central Govt for stopping water supply from Himachal to Delhi, calling it a threat to democracy.
Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Cabinet Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj has launched a fierce attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Central Government, accusing them of deliberately halting Delhi’s water supply from Himachal Pradesh. In a strongly-worded statement, Bhardwaj labeled the current administration as “anti-people” and warned that such political maneuvers pose a significant threat to India’s federal democratic structure.
Allegations of Sabotage in Himachal-Delhi Water Deal
Addressing the media, Saurabh Bhardwaj claimed that while the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government had successfully negotiated a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Himachal Pradesh to purchase surplus water, the BJP-led governments in Haryana and at the Center created multiple hurdles. He alleged that these obstructions were designed to cause unnecessary distress to the residents of Delhi for political leverage.
“History will remember the BJP and the Central Government as one of the most anti-people administrations,” Saurabh Bhardwaj remarked. He questioned why the Haryana government, which had previously blocked the path for Himachal’s water, is suddenly showing a change in stance, calling it a blatant display of political inconsistency.
BJP & it’s Central Govt will go down in History as worst & most anti people Organization.
For years, when @ArvindKejriwal Govt wanted to buy water from Himachal, their BJP Govt in Haryana & Centre created hurdles. Inspite of Himachal-Delhi MOU, the BJP derived sadistic pleasure… pic.twitter.com/XWtuuSj31l

Concerns Over Federalism and Transparency
The Minister further criticized the Prime Minister’s current governance style, asserting that it has set a worrying precedent for India’s federalism. Saurabh Bharadwaj argued that blocking essential resources like water to settle political scores violates the core principles of transparency and accountability. According to him, the residents of Delhi are being used as pawns in a larger political game, leading to severe inconvenience across the national capital.
Violation of Inter-State Agreements
Saurabh Bhardwaj pointed out that the deliberate violation of federal agreements and MOUs reflects a lack of respect for constitutional norms. He highlighted that despite legal and administrative frameworks being in place, the Central government’s interference has consistently hampered Delhi’s efforts to become self-reliant in its water needs.
The AAP leader concluded by appealing to the citizens of Delhi to recognize these “political games.” Saurabh Bhardwaj urged the public to remain vigilant against policies that prioritize partisan gains over the welfare of the common man, reiterating that the struggle for Delhi’s rightful share of water would continue.
