Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule met PM Narendra Modi in Parliament after backing the NEET-UG protest and urging the Centre to address students’ concerns.
Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament on Wednesday during the ongoing Monsoon Session. The meeting was also attended by Baramati MP and NCP (SCP) Working President Supriya Sule, drawing political attention amid the continuing debate over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak.
Meeting Comes After Support for Student Protest
The meeting took place a day after Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule visited Jantar Mantar, where students and youth groups have been protesting over the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination.
The NCP (SCP) has publicly backed the student movement and supported the demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, citing the need for accountability in the country’s examination system.
Sharad Pawar Urges Government to Hear Students
Speaking on the issue, Sharad Pawar said that the government should respond to peaceful demonstrations through dialogue rather than suppression.
He stated that the Constitution guarantees every citizen the right to express concerns peacefully and emphasized that governments are accountable to the people. According to Pawar, the Centre should carefully examine the concerns raised by protesting students and take appropriate action instead of attempting to silence their voices.

Supriya Sule Dismisses NDA Joining Rumours
Amid political speculation, Supriya Sule once again dismissed reports suggesting that the Sharad Pawar-led NCP faction was considering joining the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) or merging with another political party.
Addressing reporters in Mumbai, Sule clarified that neither she nor senior party leaders, including Sharad Pawar, Jayant Patil, Anil Deshmukh and Rajesh Tope, had received any proposal from the BJP, Congress or any NDA ally regarding a political alliance.
Administrative Meetings, Not Political Realignment
Rumours of a possible political realignment had intensified after meetings involving NCP (SCP) leader Jayant Patil, NCP leaders Praful Patel and Sunil Tatkare, along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
However, the Sharad Pawar-led party maintained that those discussions were purely administrative in nature and had no connection with any merger or alliance negotiations.
Political Focus Remains on Parliament and Student Issues
With Parliament witnessing intense debates over examination reforms and opposition parties continuing to raise concerns regarding alleged paper leaks, the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sharad Pawar has attracted considerable political interest.
The coming days of the Monsoon Session are expected to see further discussions on education reforms, examination transparency, and accountability in public recruitment and entrance examinations.
