In a key initiative to enhance inclusive and secure infrastructure for skill development, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Union Minister of State (I/C) for the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, inaugurated a newly built hostel at the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) (General) in Bengaluru. This facility is designed to offer a safe and comfortable living space for trainees, reaffirming the government’s dedication to youth empowerment.
Addressing the event, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (I/C) for the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Minister of State for the Ministry of Education, Government of India, emphasized the crucial role of skill development in achieving Viksit Bharat@2047. He highlighted that investments in top-tier training infrastructure are vital for equipping youth with future-ready skills. The inauguration of the new hostel at NSTI Bengaluru marks a significant step toward creating an inclusive and supportive environment where trainees can learn, innovate, and prepare for Industry 4.0 without limitations. Reflecting on his interaction with the institute’s candidates, he noted their passion and dedication, expressing hope that such initiatives will further inspire them.
Constructed at a cost of ₹11.06 crores, the newly built hostel covers an area of 3,423.23 square meters and consists of three floors with 30 twin-sharing rooms, accommodating up to 60 trainees. Designed for comfort, security, and accessibility, the facility includes study rooms, communal spaces, and recreational areas. With its modern and energy-efficient design, the hostel aligns with the government’s vision of expanding world-class skill development infrastructure, fostering an ideal learning environment for trainees.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Smt. Trishaljit Sethi, Director General (Training), DGT, MSDE, Government of India, Dr. Ragapriya R, Commissioner, Department of Industrial Training & Employment, and other notable dignitaries, including Shri N.N.S.S. Rao, ADG Bangalore, CPWD, Shri Anil Kumar, Deputy Director General (South Zone), DGT, and Shri N R Aravindan, Regional Director, RDSDE Karnataka, DGT.
As a leading institution under the Directorate General of Training (DGT), MSDE, NSTI Bengaluru plays a crucial role in providing advanced vocational training across key industry sectors. The addition of this hostel is expected to attract trainees from across the country, further strengthening the Skill India Mission. This milestone reinforces the government’s commitment to developing a robust skill development ecosystem that equips India’s youth with the necessary competencies for emerging job markets, enhancing the nation’s global competitiveness.
