Suryakumar Yadav played a key role as India secured a comfortable win over Pakistan in their second Asia Cup 2025 group match on Sunday.
Suryakumar Yadav , Kuldeep Yadav earned the Player of the Match award with a three-wicket haul, while Surya contributed an unbeaten 47 in the run-chase, finishing with a six. This innings helped him reach 2,000 runs in T20Is in matches India won.
He became only the third Indian to achieve this milestone after Virat Kohli (2,979 runs) and Rohit Sharma (3,296 runs) in T20I victories. Rohit’s strike rate in wins was 143.42, with three centuries and 28 fifties, while Kohli averaged 59.58, striking at 137.78 with one century and 27 fifties.
So far, Surya has been part of 65 T20I wins for India, scoring 2,015 runs at an average of 41.97 and a strike rate of 172.81, including three centuries and 17 fifties.
Globally, he is the 12th player to score 2,000 runs in winning causes in T20Is. India’s Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli top the list, followed by Pakistan’s Babar Azam (2,699 runs in 73 wins). Other notable players include Australia’s David Warner and Glenn Maxwell, England’s Jos Buttler, and New Zealand’s Martin Guptill.
