The 13th edition of the India-Italy Military Cooperation Group (MCG) meeting took place in Rome, Italy, from March 20-21, 2025. It was co-chaired by the Deputy Assistant Chief of Integrated Defence Staff IDC (A) from India’s Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) and the Deputy Head of the Strategic Direction and Military Cooperation Division of the Italian Defence General Staff.
Discussions centered on expanding bilateral military cooperation, with a focus on enhanced exchange programs, capability development, and strengthening collaboration between the Indian and Italian armed forces. The meeting also reviewed ongoing defence engagements, evaluated their progress, and explored ways to optimize future interactions.
As a key institutional mechanism, the MCG plays a crucial role in deepening defence cooperation, fostering stronger military ties, and enhancing strategic collaboration between the two nations.
