The Punjab State Election Commission (SEC )has announced that the General Elections to elect members of 16 Gram Panchayats in Block Sanour, District Patiala—including Bhathalan, Bir Bahadurgarh, Deelwal, Farm Bahadurgarh, Majri, Peer Colony, Vidya Nagar, Hira Colony, Guru Nanak Nagar, Har Gobind Colony, Karheri, Kasba Rurki, Mehmadpur Jattan, Nawan Mehmadpur Jattan, Shamaspur, and Sheikhpur Kamboan—will be held on March 30, 2025 (Sunday).
An official spokesperson of the Commission disclosed that the nomination process will begin on March 17, 2025 (Monday), from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The last date for filing nominations is March 20, 2025 (Thursday), until 3 p.m., followed by the scrutiny of nominations on March 21, 2025 (Friday). Candidates can withdraw their nominations until March 22, 2025 (Saturday), at 3 p.m. If required, polling will take place on March 30, 2025 (Sunday).
The spokesperson further stated that vote counting will be conducted immediately after polling at the respective stations, and the election process will be completed by April 1, 2025 (Tuesday).
The formal election notification will be issued on March 17, 2025. The District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner of Patiala has been directed to ensure all necessary arrangements for a smooth and fair election. The Model Code of Conduct will come into effect from the date of notification within the jurisdiction of these 16 Gram Panchayats.
