TRIFED Strengthens Tribal Market Expansion with Strategic MoUs
In a major step towards shifting from a Business-to-Consumer (B2C) to a Business-to-Business (B2B) model for tribal enterprises, the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd (TRIFED) has signed key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Meesho, the Indian Federation of Culinary Associations (IFCA), and the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Industrialization (MGIRI). These agreements, formalized on February 18 during the ongoing Aadi Mahotsav at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi (February 16-24, 2025), mark a significant advancement in expanding market opportunities for tribal products.
Under the MoU with Meesho, tribal artisans will gain access to the social commerce platform, along with training and capacity-building support to enhance their market presence. IFCA will facilitate long-term collaborations with culinary professionals and hospitality chains, leveraging its technological platform. Meanwhile, MGIRI, as TRIFED’s knowledge partner, will spearhead training and capacity-building initiatives for tribal artisans to enhance their skills and business potential.
The agreements were exchanged between TRIFED General Managers and Ms. Prachi Bhuchar (Head of Public Policy & Government Affairs, Meesho), Chef Manjit Gill (IFCA), and Dr. Ashutosh A. Murkute (Director, MGIRI), in the presence of Shri Ashish Chatterjee, Managing Director of TRIFED. These collaborations align with TRIFED’s mission to enhance the socio-economic well-being of tribal communities by integrating them into the mainstream market economy.
The Aadi Mahotsav was inaugurated on February 16, 2025, by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, in the esteemed presence of Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Shri Jual Oram, MoS Tribal Affairs Shri Durga Das Uikey, and Member of Parliament Ms. Bansuri Swaraj.
