AAP held a major rally in Umniyavadar, Bhavnagar, over the demand for a road cut and overbridge on the Bhavnagar-Somnath National Highway.

A large public meeting was organised in Umniyavadar near Mahuva in Gujarat over the long-pending demand for a legal road cut or an overbridge on the Bhavnagar-Somnath National Highway. AAP MLA Gopal Italia and Gujarat AAP Youth Wing president Brijraj Solanki were among the prominent leaders who addressed the gathering.

The Umniyavadar Road Cut and Overbridge issue concerns the main route connecting Umniyavadar and nearly 25 surrounding villages with the highway. Residents have been demanding a suitable crossing facility to improve connectivity and make movement between the villages and the highway easier.

Gopal Italia Targets Gujarat Government

Addressing the gathering, AAP MLA Gopal Italia criticised the state government’s approach and said that governments are elected by people and must therefore work according to public needs.

Italia argued that residents should not have to organise a massive gathering merely to seek a basic road facility. He questioned why thousands of people from several villages have to raise their voices for a road cut or overbridge.

He also linked the local issue to broader concerns such as employment, education, healthcare, farmers’ problems and law and order in Gujarat.

According to Italia, the Umniyavadar Road Cut and Overbridge demand is not simply about infrastructure but also reflects the need for authorities to listen to the concerns of local residents.

Around 25 Villages Seeking Better Connectivity

The proposed facility is expected to benefit Umniyavadar and nearby villages that use the highway for regular travel. Residents have been seeking a safe and convenient way to cross or access the highway.

The AAP leaders said the demand should be considered keeping the needs of the surrounding population in mind.

Italia also urged young people to take responsibility for raising public issues and participating in democratic movements without fear.

Brijraj Solanki Says AAP Will Stand With Residents

AAP Gujarat Youth Wing president Brijraj Solanki also addressed the gathering and attacked the BJP government over the pending demand.

Solanki claimed that AAP leaders and workers had faced political and administrative pressure but continued to raise public issues. He said that young people should not be intimidated when they speak about matters affecting their communities.

He further warned that AAP would continue to raise questions about the functioning of officials and the government if public grievances remained unresolved.

AAP Promises Continued Movement

Solanki said that the party would continue supporting residents of the 20-25 villages on the bridge and road-cut issue. He indicated that if the demand was not addressed, AAP leaders and workers would remain involved with the local population in further democratic protests.

The leaders referred to the principles associated with Mahatma Gandhi and Bhagat Singh while talking about their approach to public movements.

The Umniyavadar Road Cut and Overbridge demand has therefore emerged as a key local infrastructure issue, with AAP seeking government action on behalf of residents.

Several AAP Leaders Attend Meeting

The public meeting was attended by several AAP leaders, including Lok Sabha in-charge Kantibhai Satasia, state organisation secretary Nikunj Savaliya, Bhavnagar district in-charge Hasmukhbhai Domadiya, Amreli district in-charge Rahul Harkhani and Amreli Lok Sabha organisation secretary Sukhbhai Vala.

The gathering provided a platform for residents and party leaders to discuss the connectivity issue and put pressure on the authorities to consider their demand.
