Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath inspects Noida International Airport, directs agencies to expedite work for operations before Dec 15, 2025. Airport nears aerodrome licence approval, commercial flights expected early 2026.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday conducted a detailed on-site inspection of the under-construction Noida International Airport in Jewar, urging all involved agencies to expedite pending work to ensure the airport becomes operational before December 15, 2025.
Officials from Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) confirmed that the project has entered its final phase, with only a few compliance steps remaining before full regulatory approval can be obtained. The Noida International Airport, envisioned as the National Capital Region’s second major aviation hub after Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, is set to receive its aerodrome licence pending final clearances.
According to NIAL CEO RK Singh, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) is expected to grant its final security approval by December 2. Following this, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) can issue the aerodrome licence within 24 hours, clearing the path for inauguration and operational readiness.
During the inspection, CM Adityanath emphasized that all security-related tasks must be completed immediately. “If all pending compliance is wrapped up by December 2, DGCA will provide the aerodrome licence within a day,” Singh said. The Chief Minister also conveyed that he had discussed the potential inauguration with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with December 15 being considered as the target date.

The BCAS conducted a two-day inspection on November 24-25, evaluating the Central Industrial Security Force’s preparedness and recommending additional CCTV cameras and eight watchtowers along the 18 km airport boundary wall. NIAL officials assured that these requirements would be fulfilled promptly to meet the licensing schedule.
Shailendra Bhatia, NIAL’s nodal officer, stated that the Noida International Airport’s major infrastructure – including the runway, taxiways, terminal building, air traffic control tower, and support systems – is already complete. Technical trials for baggage-handling, passenger screening, and boarding processes are currently underway to ensure smooth operational readiness.
While the aerodrome licence and inauguration appear imminent, commercial flight operations are expected to begin in early 2026. Airlines will require at least a month post-licensing to finalize landing and departure slots, adjust schedules, and complete passenger-handling preparations.
The inspection and review meeting was attended by Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, senior DGCA and BCAS officials, CISF representatives, and other key stakeholders. CM Adityanath directed all agencies, including the airport concessionaire and CISF, to ensure all pending compliance work is closed within the stipulated timeframe.
Once the licence is issued, commercial operations will initially commence with daytime domestic passenger and cargo flights, marking a significant milestone for Uttar Pradesh’s aviation infrastructure and the NCR region.
