UP CM Yogi Adityanath today reviewed the work of the Geology and Mining Department at his official residence and gave necessary instructions to the officials.He said that in the financial year 2024-25, the department has so far received revenue of Rs 2407.20 crore. Giving instructions for rapid increase in revenue He said that for this, effective efforts should be made by departmental and district level officials. Accountability will be fixed on the District Magistrate and District Mining Officer of the districts which are not achieving the expected increase in revenue.
CM Yogi ji said that there is immense potential for increase in revenue in view of mining in Sonbhadra, Banda, Kaushambi and Mahoba districts. Measures to increase revenue should be ensured even in the districts receiving less revenue.He said that the action should be taken forward by taking quick decisions on the applications pending at the government, department and district level. Other measures to increase revenue should also be considered.
The Chief Minister said that any kind of illegal mining activities will not be tolerated in the catchment area of the river. CM Yogi Adityanath gave instructions to stop it strictly using technology. The Chief Minister also gave instructions to install Vehicle Tracking System (VTS) on the vehicles doing mining inside the approved mining area and said that this will ensure whether the mining is taking place in the approved area or not. This will also provide convenience to the transporter.
The Chief Minister said that to stop illegal mining in the districts, raids should be conducted from time to time by the task force. The presence of administrative and police officers including departmental officers should be ensured during the raid.Its regular videography should also be done. Giving instructions for timely disposal of pending cases at the departmental level, CM Yogi Adityanath said that action plans for the year should be prepared between June and August.If the action plan is prepared on time, all the work will be completed easily.
The Chief Minister instructed the Transport Department officials present in the meeting to make rapid efforts to prevent road accidents. CM Yogi Adityanath said that overloaded vehicles should never be parked on the roadside. To prevent tax evasion and overloading, 55 check gates have been established in the districts. ‘Way in Motion Plants’ should be installed on these soon. Overloading should be stopped at zero point in any case.
CM Yogi said that instructions have been given by the Mining Ministry of the Government of India to prepare State Mining Readiness Index. In this regard, timely availability of necessary information should be ensured by coordination with various departments.Soil, sand and silt from the banks of rivers should be used in making bricks. This will be effective in saving the environment. Soil from fertile land should not be used in brick kilns.
