The total estimated cost of the programme has been fixed at ₹5,714.80 crore. The project is expected to focus on improving water management while encouraging farming practices that use natural resources more efficiently.
World Bank to Fund 70% of Project Cost
According to Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana, 70% of the project cost, amounting to ₹4,000.36 crore, will be provided as financial assistance by the World Bank.

The remaining 30%, or ₹1,714.44 crore, will be contributed by the Haryana government. This funding structure is expected to support the implementation of various water security and sustainable agriculture initiatives.
Six-Year Implementation Plan
The Water Secure Haryana programme has been proposed for the period between 2026 and 2032. The long-term approach is aimed at addressing water-related challenges while creating better conditions for sustainable farming.
