According to the notification issued by RAJASTHAN GOVT, farmers of the state can get Rabi crops insured under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana till 31st December. Under the scheme, crops can be insured by farmers taking crop loans, non-loanee farmers and sharecropper farmers.
Getting crop insurance done under Pradhan Mantri Crop Insurance Scheme is voluntary, but loanee farmers who do not want to get crop insurance done can opt out of this scheme by giving written information to the concerned bank and financial institution by 24th December.Those farmers who have got short-term crop loans approved from any financial institutions till 31st December, will be insured through the concerned bank or cooperative society. Those farmers who have not taken loan can get their crops insured through the nearest CSC (Custom Hiring Centre) or any bank.
Non-loanee farmers can get their crops insured by carrying the latest land registration, bank passbook, Aadhaar card and other necessary documents. By getting crop insurance, the losses caused to crops due to various natural calamities from sowing to harvesting are compensated. To get Rabi crop insurance, farmers will have to deposit 1.5 percent premium of the total insured amount. However, for commercial crops the farmer premium is fixed at 5 percent. To spread awareness in this direction, farmers are being given information about crop insurance scheme by organizing WhatsApp group, Facebook, Kisan Goshti and Ratri Chaupal.
For the implementation of the scheme, on the basis of former 33 districts of the state, Reliance General Insurance Company Limited in Bharatpur, Churu, Rajsamand, Jalore, Dungarpur, Tonk and Karauli, Kshema General Insurance Limited in Sriganganagar, Alwar and Bundi and Hanumangarh, Dholpur, Kota, Bikaner. Sirohi,Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited has been authorized in Sawai Madhopur, Banswara, Jaisalmer, Jhunjhunu, Ajmer, Udaipur, Nagaur, Bhilwara, Pratapgarh, Jodhpur, Dausa, Banra, Barmer, Sikar, Chittorgarh, Jhalawar, Pali and Jaipur.
