CM Yogi Adityanath today conducted an on-the-spot inspection of the four-lane road project being constructed near the Havert Dam in Gorakhpur.He saw the progress of the road near Baharampur Regulator Number One, saw the map of the project and gave necessary instructions to the officials of the Public Works Department.
Addressing the gathering, he said that this four-lane road will not only help in flood protection but will also solve the traffic problems of the city to a great extent. Gorakhpur is surrounded by water bodies on all sides – the Ramgarhtal, Chiluatal, Rapti and Rohin rivers flow around it. A dam has been constructed to protect the river from floods.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that when the water level of Rapti had increased in 2017-18, the area had become very sensitive.After this, the government started a plan to build a four-lane road for the safety and traffic convenience of this area.Four-lane is being constructed from Rajghat to Domingarh, along with the construction of a railway overbridge in Domingarh.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that in the future, this four-lane will be added to Mahesara via Madhopur embankment, so that traffic coming out of Gorakhpur will not need to enter the city.This will also improve the connectivity of Sonauli road and freight route.
CM Yogi Adityanath said that due to the Sahabganj mandi and textile trade, the movement of trucks continues there, which causes the problem of congestion.The new four-lane road will provide a big relief to people and traders.The project is being executed by the Public Works Department (PWD), Water Resources Department and Irrigation Department.Instructions have also been given to maintain the regulators in time so that there is no problem of waterlogging in the rain.
In this project:
4 km four-lane road from Rajghat to Domingarh (Rs 195 crore)
10 km four-lane from Domingarh to Mahesara (Rs 380 crore)
Domingarh Railway Overbridge (Rs. 132 crore)
The work is being carried out on a war footing at a total cost of about Rs 700 crore.CM Yogi Adityanath expressed confidence that all the works will be completed on time and the people will get great relief.
CM Yogi Adityanath also said that arrangements will be made for proper rehabilitation and compensation for those affected by the construction. This entire scheme is being completed keeping in mind the convenience and safety of the general public and traders.
