CM Yogi Adityanath has directed that the changes made in the aspirational districts and development blocks of the state should be evaluated on the ground. He has directed senior officials to visit the spot. Principal Secretary or Secretary level officers will be sent on a three-day visit to eight aspirational districts, while Special Secretary level officers will be deployed for 108 aspirational development blocks. These officers will inspect the improvements made since inception and submit a detailed report.
Reviewing the status of aspirational districts at a high-level meeting, the Chief Minister said that this initiative of NITI Aayog is aimed at reaching service and development to the last person. He described these schemes as an example of the spirit of ‘Antyodaya’ and said that progress should be ensured through continuous monitoring of all sectors and result-oriented strategy.
He informed that due to continuous efforts, there has been a remarkable improvement in many districts. The top 10 aspirational districts in the country include six districts of Uttar Pradesh – Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Sonbhadra, etc. These districts have performed admirably in areas such as education, nutrition, and financial inclusion.
In terms of development blocks, the Chief Minister was also apprised that the average performance of these sectors on 21 indicators in 2024 has been better than the State average, which has increased to 24 indicators by 2025. In three sectors, all the 108 development blocks have performed better than the state average.
In the progress report, based on the performance between March 2023 and March 2024, blocks like Aurai (Sant Ravidas Nagar), Richha (Bareilly), Chahaniya (Chandauli) have achieved the highest rank in their respective areas.
The Chief Minister also directed to ensure weekly monitoring and accountability of CM Fellows working in Aspirational Development Blocks. They will be ranked on the basis of three years tenure and there is also a plan to give them weightage in government services.
He also talked about speedy appointment to vacant posts, micro planning and regular monitoring for better operation of schemes. He also directed to ensure that banking committees meet regularly for financial inclusion and there is better coordination with banks.
The Chief Minister made it clear that no person, region or district would be deprived of the benefits of development. Aspirational districts and development blocks are becoming a powerful medium to realise the goal of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, and Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a national model in this area.
