Miss Grand International 2024 Titleholder Rachel Gupta Accuses Organisation of Mistreatment
Rachel Gupta, who made history last year by becoming the first Indian to win the coveted Miss Grand International crown, announced on social media that she had resigned from her title, citing a toxic environment and repeated broken promises.

In an emotional Instagram post, the 21-year-old model revealed, “Being crowned was one of the most cherished dreams of my life, but the months following my crowning have been marked by broken promises, mistreatment, and a toxic environment I can no longer endure in silence.”
Rachel Gupta expressed her regret to her supporters worldwide, apologising for the disappointing news and promising to share her full story soon, stating, “The truth will come out very soon.”
However, the Miss Grand International Organisation (MGI) responded swiftly with a contradictory statement, clarifying that Rachel Gupta had not resigned but was officially terminated from her position. The organisation accused Gupta of failing to fulfil her duties, engaging in unauthorised external projects, and refusing to attend an official trip to Guatemala — violations that led to the termination of her title.
The official statement from MGI read, “The Miss Grand International Organisation hereby announces the termination of Miss Rachel Gupta’s title as Miss Grand International 2024, effective immediately.” They further instructed Gupta to return the crown to the MGI Head Office within 30 days.
Rachel Gupta’s crowning on October 25, 2024, was celebrated as a historic moment for India. Along with the Miss Grand International crown, she received the Grand Pageants Choice Award, joining the ranks of iconic Indian beauty queens like Miss Universe 2000, Lara Dutta.
