Chhattisgarh NEWS : Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Mukt Bijli Yojana is proving to be an important initiative towards making domestic electricity consumers self-reliant in the field of energy. This scheme is not only promoting green energy but also empowering the citizens economically. Under the scheme, incentives are being given to install rooftop solar plants on the rooftops of houses, which is not only reducing the electricity bill to zero, but also generating income through additional electricity.
Shri Ashok Swarnkar, a resident of Hospital Ward, Kondagaon has also taken advantage of this scheme by installing solar panels on the roof of his house. He said that he got information about the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Yojana from the local electricity office and from there registration was also done on the portal under the scheme. A solar plant of 3 KW capacity was installed at his house, which was installed by the authorised vendor. Two months after setting up the plant, they also received a subsidy of Rs 78,000.
Earlier, Mr. Swarnkar’s monthly electricity bill used to be between Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 2,500, but now it has come down to zero, bringing relief to his monthly expenses. He informed that 15 to 20 units of electricity is being generated every day from solar panels. The surplus power generated will also become a source of income by supplying to the grid. He also said that this harnessing of the sun’s energy has reduced carbon emissions and is helpful in environmental conservation. Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Shri Swarnkar also appealed to other citizens to install solar plants in their homes.
It is worth mentioning that subsidy is being given by the Central and State Government to the beneficiaries for installation of solar panels in the rooftop of the house based on the capacity of the plant. According to the capacity of the rooftop solar plant, a subsidy of 30 thousand rupees is being given by the central government and 15 thousand rupees by the state government at a cost of about 65 thousand rupees for 1 kilowatt. For 02 KW, subsidy of Rs.60,000 / -is being provided by the Central Government and Rs.30,000 / -by the State Government at a cost of Rs.1.30 lakh Similarly, for solar plants of more than 3 KW, a subsidy of Rs 78,000 and Rs 30,000 will be given by the state government at a cost of Rs 1 lakh 95 thousand. In this, the contribution of the beneficiary will be 10 percent and for the remaining amount, loans will be provided by the banks at an interest rate of 7 percent.
