Punjab CM Mann on Friday accused the BJP-led central government of deliberately trying to silence democratic voices by filing FIRs against AAP leaders.
Speaking to the media, Mann stated that it has become a trend that anyone who speaks the truth is targeted with legal action. He pointed out that leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Sanjay Singh have been imprisoned simply for raising their voices. CM Mann emphasized that despite such attempts, they are not afraid and remain committed to speaking the truth, trusting that the law will ultimately protect them. He added that more FIRs and arrests are likely, as BJP wants to silence any criticism of Prime Minister Modi.
Responding to a question, CM Mann asserted that, as a Chief Minister, he has every right to question the country’s foreign policy. He said he will continue to question the Prime Minister’s overseas visits, claiming that Adani’s businesses tend to expand in countries after Modi visits them. Mann further argued that these foreign trips serve no real purpose, as evident during the India-Pakistan war when no foreign nation came to India’s support.
CM Mann also alleged that dangerous gangsters are being shielded by the central government and are being kept in Gujarat jails. He assured that strict measures will be taken in Punjab against those involved in organized crime and drug trafficking, with no tolerance for such activities. He questioned the credibility of the central leadership, noting that even the Union Home Minister has a tainted background.
Calling it a landmark day for Punjab, CM Mann said that the Vidhan Sabha had unanimously passed five public welfare bills. He affirmed that the state government is committed to reviving Punjab’s lost glory and will continue making pro-people and development-driven decisions in the future.
