Delhi CM Rekha Gupta announces plans to transform the city into a top education hub, ensuring quality infrastructure and outreach programs to keep students from seeking studies abroad.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Saturday the government’s vision to transform the national capital into a leading education hub. Speaking at the inauguration of the Swami Vivekananda Bhawan at B R Ambedkar University’s (AUD) Karampura campus, CM Gupta emphasized that Delhi aims to become the first choice for students seeking quality higher education.
Addressing the gathering, CM Gupta said, “The biggest sector we can work on in Delhi is to make the city an education hub. Students searching for the best place to get education should think of Delhi first. We have to make our system so strong that our children do not need to go abroad for higher studies.”
She highlighted that while Delhi cannot develop as an industrial center due to restrictions on heavy industries, the city holds immense potential to become the foremost destination for academic excellence.

Strengthening Education Infrastructure
The Chief Minister assured that the government is committed to providing all necessary resources to enhance the education infrastructure across Delhi. The inauguration of the new Swami Vivekananda Bhawan was part of the Sewa Pakhwara initiative, celebrated in honor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday.
“This facility will bolster our efforts in delivering quality Education Hub and fostering a conducive learning environment,” CM Gupta added.
Outreach and Community Development by AUD
Education Minister Ashish Sood praised AUD’s extensive outreach programs, stating that the university’s impact goes beyond classrooms. “AUD has adopted seven slum clusters and villages, offering education and development opportunities to children. Additionally, it is actively restoring 23 hectares of wetland,” said Sood. He emphasized that investing in education is the most valuable investment for the future.

Alongside CM Gupta, the event was graced by Vice-Chancellor Anu Singh Lather, New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj, local MLA Harish Khurana, and other dignitaries who collectively celebrated this significant milestone in Delhi’s education sector.
