Delhi Government to launch the ‘Saheli Pink Card’ on Bhai Dooj, offering free bus and metro travel for women and transgender residents. A step toward digital, inclusive public transport.
In a landmark move toward women empowerment and digital mobility, the Delhi Government is set to launch the ‘Saheli Pink Card’ around the festival of Bhai Dooj. This card will offer free travel in DTC buses, Cluster buses, and Delhi Metro for women and transgender residents of Delhi.
Designed under the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) framework, the Pink Card aims to simplify and digitize public transport access for women and transgender individuals living in the capital.
What is the Saheli Pink Card?
The Saheli Pink Card is a smart travel card that will enable Delhi-based women and transgender individuals to travel for free across multiple public transport modes – including DTC buses, Cluster buses, and the Delhi Metro. This move will replace the current system of issuing paper tickets to women on DTC buses for free rides, making the process digital, transparent, and contactless.
Three Cards, Three Colors, Three Benefits
The Delhi Transport Department is introducing three color-coded mobility cards, each serving different categories of passengers:
-
Pink Card – Free travel for women and transgender residents of Delhi
-
Blue Card – A prepaid mobility card for general passengers
-
Orange Card – A monthly digital pass for students, senior citizens, and other pass holders
All three cards are based on the NCMC standard, allowing passengers to use a single card across buses, metro, and other public transit systems.
