Strong Stand Against MCD Inactivity
CM Rekha Gupta criticized the MCD’s working style and termed the frequent deferment of meetings as a sign of administrative failure. “If the committee remains inactive, how will people’s issues be resolved?” she questioned. She urged the MCD to hold meetings regularly to ensure timely decision-making and prompt resolution of civic problems.
Clear Warning to Officials
The CM further warned MCD officials that they must formulate concrete, actionable plans for improving civic amenities and ensure sincere implementation. “The Delhi Government is ready to offer full support, but only if the MCD fulfills its responsibilities. If there is no action, don’t expect cooperation,” Gupta stated.
She also expressed displeasure over the unresolved issues of Domestic Breeding Checkers (DBC) employees, highlighting that neglecting the concerns of essential ground-level workers is unacceptable.
Urban Development Minister Voices Concern
Supporting the CM’s stance, Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood also raised questions about MCD’s sanitation efforts. He revealed that the Delhi Government had already released special funds to the corporation to improve cleanliness and waste management. However, those funds remain largely unutilized.
“When both resources and budget are available, why are the cleanliness conditions still deteriorating?” he asked, showing discontent over MCD’s inefficiency.
Unused Funds Spark Criticism
According to internal sources, a large portion of the funds allocated by the government remains unspent. Minister Sood said, “The money collected through public taxes should be used for public benefit, not sit idly in files.”
