Ahead of Deepawali, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a generous scholarship gift to over 10.28 lakh students across the state. In a grand ceremony held at Lok Bhavan, scholarships totaling ₹297.95 crore were transferred directly into the bank accounts of students through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system under the Purv Dasham and Dashmottar Scholarship Schemes.
CM Yogi Adityanath emphasized the importance of regular school attendance and dedicated study, stating that students who are committed to their education will play a crucial role in transforming society. He assured that the government’s schemes reach all sections of society without discrimination, reflecting a fair and inclusive approach.
The event saw symbolic distribution of scholarship certificates to selected students from various districts, while the bulk amount was directly credited to the beneficiaries’ accounts. The Chief Minister highlighted that over 62 lakh students now benefit from government scholarships, a significant increase from 46 lakh in 2016-17. This growth reflects the government’s commitment to supporting education without delays or corruption, thanks to the transparency of the DBT system.
Yogi Adityanath also noted that this scholarship program helps alleviate poverty, pointing out that over 25 crore people across India and six crore in Uttar Pradesh have been lifted above the poverty line due to effective government initiatives. He reiterated that there is no shortage of funds, but rather a need for dedication and honesty to ensure benefits reach the right people on time.
The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath further praised the efforts to end discrimination in scholarship distribution, particularly for SC and ST students, whose scholarships were previously halted under earlier governments. Today, such disparities are eliminated, and all deserving students receive timely financial support.
