CM Yogi Adityanath hands over homes to 72 poor families in Lucknow’s Dalibagh on land reclaimed from mafia control, providing affordable housing and sending a strong message against illegal land grabbing in Uttar Pradesh.
In a landmark initiative, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath handed over keys to 72 low-income families for flats constructed on land reclaimed from mafia control in Lucknow’s upscale Dalibagh area. The flats, developed under the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Housing Scheme, mark a historic step towards empowering the underprivileged and curbing mafia dominance in the state.
Houses Provided Below Market Value
Speaking at the event, CM Yogi emphasized that mafias would no longer be allowed to encroach on land meant for poor citizens. He highlighted that these flats, valued at nearly Rs 1 crore in the current real estate market, have been allotted to beneficiaries for just Rs 10.7 lakh. “This land has been freed from mafia control, and now homes for the poor have been built here. Let this be a message to those who support mafias—they cannot exploit the poor in Uttar Pradesh,” he stated.
Dreams Fulfilled for Beneficiaries
Beneficiaries lauded CM Yogi for realizing their dream of owning a home in a prime location. “Yogi ji came like a god. I had applied under PM Awas Yojana and never imagined I would get a home in such a posh area. My dream has come true because of him,” said one beneficiary. Another added, “Yogi ji demolished Ansari’s illegal property and built homes for the poor. The area was under mafia control for years, and this should have happened earlier.”

Historical Action Against Mafia Properties
Since taking office in 2017, CM Yogi has taken firm action against mafia leaders who illegally occupied land across Uttar Pradesh. The Anti-Mafia Land Portal has led to the seizure or demolition of properties worth over Rs 4,457 crore, including assets of notorious figures like Atiq Ahmad and Mukhtar Ansari. In Dalibagh, Mukhtar Ansari had unlawfully occupied around 2,400 square meters of land, which has now been converted into affordable housing for the underprivileged.
Government’s Vision: Empowerment and Development
This initiative demonstrates the Yogi Adityanath government’s commitment to social welfare, anti-mafia measures, and housing for economically weaker sections. By reclaiming mafia-controlled land and constructing affordable homes, the state is ensuring better living conditions and creating a safer, fairer environment for its citizens.
CM Yogi concluded, “This is not just housing for the poor; it is a message of justice and governance. Uttar Pradesh is becoming a state where the rule of law prevails and every citizen can live with dignity.”
