Patna: In a historic event at Patna’s iconic Gandhi Maidan, Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a record 10th time on Thursday. Governor Arif Mohammed Khan administered the oath of office and secrecy. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president J.P. Nadda, and several other senior leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Chief ministers from NDA-ruled states also participated in the ceremony.
PM Modi Congratulates Nitish Kumar
After the oath-taking, PM Modi congratulated Nitish Kumar, stating, “Congratulations to Nitish Kumar Ji on taking oath as Bihar’s Chief Minister. He is an experienced administrator with a proven track record of good governance for many years. My best wishes to him for his tenure ahead.”
Record-Breaking Achievement
At the age of 74, Nitish Kumar has become the longest-serving Chief Minister of Bihar and the first in the country to be sworn in 10 times. This milestone also extends his overall tenure as Bihar CM to 19 years, placing him among the top 10 longest-serving heads of state governments in India.

Political Developments Before Oath
On Wednesday, Nitish Kumar resigned as Bihar CM and staked claim to form the new government before Governor Arif Mohammed Khan. He was unanimously elected as the leader of the JD(U) Legislature Party and also became the leader of the NDA Legislature Party ahead of the new government formation.
BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were elected as leader and deputy leader of the BJP Legislature Party, respectively, during a meeting at the BJP state headquarters.

New Assembly Session
A three-day session of the newly constituted Bihar assembly will begin on November 26, during which the Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be elected, and new members will take oath.
NDA Victory in Bihar
The NDA stormed back to power in Bihar by winning 202 seats out of 243 in the assembly elections. BJP secured 89 seats, JD(U) 85, LJP(RV) 19, HAM(S) 5, and RLM 4 seats.
