Delhi CM Rekha Gupta flags off the ‘Hind Ki Chadar’ procession on Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 350th Martyrdom Day from Sisganj Sahib to Anandpur Sahib.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday inaugurated the sacred ‘Hind Ki Chadar’ procession to mark the 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru revered for his supreme sacrifice for religious freedom. The grand procession commenced from Gurdwara Sisganj Sahib in Delhi and will conclude at Gurdwara Anandpur Sahib in Punjab.
The Chief Minister paid heartfelt homage to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and offered prayers before flagging off the procession. She bowed before the sangat and extended her wishes, praying that the Guru’s blessings bring peace, prosperity and happiness to every home. She also sought blessings at Gurdwara Sisganj Sahib before the procession began its spiritual journey.
Historic Tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji
Addressing devotees, CM Rekha Gupta emphasized that the event is a reminder of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s fearless sacrifice in the defence of faith and human dignity. She noted that his teachings continue to inspire people across the world to uphold peace, equality and righteousness.
Calling him the true “Hind Ki Chadar” (Shield of India), she said Guru Ji sacrificed his life to protect the religious freedom of all communities, making his martyrdom a universal symbol of courage and humanity.
Appeal for Unity and Brotherhood
The Chief Minister urged citizens to follow Guru Ji’s ideals of harmony, tolerance and mutual respect. She encouraged devotees to carry forward his message of brotherhood and spread peace within society.
As the sacred procession began moving towards Anandpur Sahib, the entire gathering resonated with chants of “Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh”, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere filled with devotion and reverence.
