Haryana Minister Anil Vij highlights the deep emotional significance of ‘Vande Mataram’, urging respect for the national song and criticizing opposition for distorting its sanctity during Haryana Vidhan Sabha Winter Session.
During the Winter Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Haryana Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister Anil Vij emphasized the deep emotional significance of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’. Speaking on the ongoing discussion about the national song, Vij highlighted that millions of Indians have sacrificed their lives while chanting ‘Vande Mataram’ and that it remains a symbol of patriotism and the struggle for India’s independence.
Minister Anil Vij Targets Opposition
Addressing the opposition, Anil Vij criticized them for not giving ‘Vande Mataram’ the recognition it truly deserves. He alleged that at the insistence of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Congress removed two verses from the song, while sacred texts like the Gita, Ramayana, and Quran have never been altered.
He further stated that the opposition’s actions distorted the sanctity of ‘Vande Mataram’, laying the foundation for division in the country. Vij asserted, “We salute ‘Vande Mataram’, bow before it, and offer flowers to it,” emphasizing that national pride and respect for the song must remain intact, irrespective of political viewpoints.
Significance of ‘Vande Mataram’
According to Minister Anil Vij, ‘Vande Mataram’ is more than a song; it is an emotion that unites millions. It serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and the collective spirit of the Indian nation. He urged that while different perspectives exist, they should never be linked to or used to diminish the national song.
With these statements, Anil Vij reinforced the importance of preserving the sanctity of ‘Vande Mataram’ as a symbol of India’s freedom struggle and national pride.
