Chhattisgarh Cabinet approves 40-acre land in Nava Raipur for NMIMS B-School campus. New entrepreneurship centres, healthcare upgrades, and Excise Policy 2026-27 also approved.
In a major step to boost higher education and entrepreneurship in Chhattisgarh, the Chhattisgarh Cabinet on Wednesday approved the allotment of nearly 40 acres of land in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar for the establishment of a campus of the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS). The decision was made during a Chhattisgarh Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.
The land, located in Sector-18 of Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, will be leased for 90 years to the Mumbai-based Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM), which manages NMIMS. Founded in 1934, SVKM currently runs 30 educational institutions catering to over one lakh students annually, covering programs from pre-primary to doctoral levels. NMIMS, ranked 52nd in the NIRF University Rankings 2025, is expected to enhance access to modern, quality education in Chhattisgarh.

Entrepreneurship and Startup Development
Alongside the NMIMS campus, the Chhattisgarh Cabinet approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) to establish four new entrepreneurship centres in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. These centres aim to promote the IT/ITeS sector and strengthen the technology startup ecosystem in the state.
The STPI, which currently operates 68 centres nationwide including 60 in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, will collaborate with the state’s Electronics and Information Technology Department to nurture 133 domain-specific startups over the next three to five years. The focus areas will include Artificial Intelligence, MedTech, Smart City solutions, and Smart Agriculture.
Additionally, an Electronics System Design and Development (ESDM) centre will be set up to support students, entrepreneurs, researchers, and industries in developing prototypes, assisting 30-40 hardware startups and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) annually.
Healthcare and Excise Policy Measures
To improve healthcare services, the Chhattisgarh Cabinet also approved measures to ensure quality diagnostic facilities in all government health institutions. District hospitals, community health centres, and primary health centres will see strengthened resources and increased diagnostic tests as per prescribed standards.
Furthermore, the Chhattisgarh Cabinet approved the Chhattisgarh Excise Policy for the financial year 2026-27, authorizing the concerned department to carry out all related procedures.
These initiatives reflect the state government’s commitment to advancing education, fostering entrepreneurship, and improving healthcare infrastructure, further strengthening Chhattisgarh’s overall socio-economic development.
