Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the third post-budget webinar today, focusing on agriculture and rural transformation. The session highlighted how the recently announced budget provisions aim to strengthen the agricultural sector and promote rural development, while encouraging stakeholder participation for maximum impact.
Reflecting on previous sessions related to technology and economic growth, PM Modi emphasized that post-budget discussions are crucial to ensure the country utilizes its full potential. He outlined the government’s initiatives like the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and the Minimum Support Price (MSP) schemes, which have significantly increased farmers’ income and economic security.

During the Post-Budget Webinar, PM Modi shared key figures demonstrating the government’s success in agriculture: over 10 crore farmers received benefits worth more than ₹4 lakh crore under the PM Kisan scheme, and nearly ₹2 lakh crore in insurance claims were settled through the PM Crop Insurance Scheme. Institutional credit coverage has exceeded 75%, providing farmers with enhanced financial security and reduced risks.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of high-value agriculture, highlighting region-specific crops such as cocoa, cashew, sandalwood, and agri-products from North-Eastern and Himalayan states. He called for boosting export-oriented agriculture, value addition, and rural employment through integrated supply chains.
PM Modi also underscored the potential of fisheries, dairy, and poultry sectors in creating rural prosperity. He encouraged leveraging India’s diverse climate for increased productivity and export potential, integrating digital technologies like e-NAM, digital land surveys, and AI-driven platforms for better agricultural outcomes.
Emphasizing the importance of state-level execution, PM Modi urged district administrations to implement budget provisions effectively, ensuring that farmers and rural communities directly benefit. He concluded by calling for enhanced collaboration among experts, entrepreneurs, and farmers to achieve a technologically empowered, globally competitive agricultural sector.
