Delhi government launches Delhi Summer Action Plan 2026 with GPS-tracked water tankers and emergency centers to ensure uninterrupted water supply during the summer season.
The Delhi government has gone into action mode ahead of the scorching summer season by unveiling the Delhi Summer Action Plan 2026. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reviewed the plan in a high-level meeting, ensuring uninterrupted water supply across the city during peak summer months.
CM Reviews the Summer Action Plan
During the review meeting, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta directed officials to ensure maximum water availability in all areas. Senior officials from the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), including Water Minister Pravesh Verma, Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma, and DJB CEO Kaushal Raj Sharma, were present. CM Gupta emphasized that although water demand rises significantly in summer, production levels remain stable, necessitating proactive measures under the Delhi Summer Action Plan 2026.
Enhanced Water Tanker System with GPS Tracking
To address water shortages, DJB has deployed 168 departmental tankers and 819 rented tankers. During peak summer, an additional 200 tankers will be hired if required. To improve transparency and efficiency, a mobile application has been developed for tanker drivers. Through this app, GPS-based tracking will monitor the movement of water tankers, and water delivery will be verified with photographic evidence in real-time.

Area-Specific Measures
Under the Delhi Summer Action Plan 2026, each assembly constituency has a dedicated plan. This includes water supply schedules by colony, tanker routes, and identification of water-deficient and sensitive areas to ensure prompt action when needed.
Monitoring Water Quality and Complaint Resolution
DJB monitors 1,600–1,700 water samples daily to maintain water quality. The number of sampling vehicles has been increased from 12 to 18. Citizens can lodge complaints at any time through the 24×7 helpline at 1916 or toll-free 1800117118. A central control room and chatbot system also expedite complaint registration and monitoring.
Emergency Preparedness
For emergency situations, 28 water emergency centers have been set up across Delhi, functioning 24/7. These centers are equipped with adequate staff, communication facilities, and monitoring systems to tackle any sudden water shortages.
