He stated that the court directive has created uncertainty and fear among residents, with many facing the possibility of displacement if proper rehabilitation measures are not implemented.
Concerns Over Rehabilitation Policy and Government Response
Sanjay Jha alleged that residents living along the Yamuna floodplain have been repeatedly assured over the years that their homes would be protected. However, he said the ground reality appears to contradict these assurances.

He urged both the Delhi and Central governments to present a clear and practical rehabilitation policy for affected families, instead of making only verbal commitments.
Risk to Livelihoods of Thousands of Families
According to local residents, a large number of families could be rendered homeless if proper rehabilitation arrangements are not made. This, they warn, may severely impact livelihoods, education, and overall socio-economic stability in the region.
Jha emphasized that the issue should not be viewed through a political lens but as a humanitarian concern requiring urgent action.
Demand for a Structured Rehabilitation Framework
The AAP leader called for an immediate and comprehensive rehabilitation policy that ensures safe and dignified relocation options for affected families.
He stressed that protecting the rights of people living in the Yamuna flood zone is the responsibility of the government, and any delay in action would be unacceptable.
