During the inspections, authorities identified several cases of non-compliance. As a result, challans were issued to 526 school buses found violating safety regulations. In addition, three vehicles were seized due to serious breaches of safety requirements. The minister emphasized that the government will not tolerate negligence when it comes to the safety and well-being of students.
Baljit Kaur stated that the policy requires school vehicles to be equipped with essential safety features such as first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, valid permits, emergency exits, speed governors, and properly verified drivers. Inspection teams also reviewed documentation and vehicle fitness certificates to ensure compliance.
She added that the Bhagwant Mann-led government is committed to creating a safer transportation environment for children and will continue monitoring school vehicles throughout the year. Educational institutions have also been advised to strictly follow safety guidelines and ensure that their transport services meet all legal requirements.
The minister urged school authorities, transport operators, and parents to work together in promoting road safety and protecting students during their daily commute. She reiterated that strict action will continue against those who fail to comply with the provisions of the Safe School Vehicle Policy.
The ongoing enforcement drive reflects the Punjab Government’s broader objective of strengthening child safety measures and ensuring that every student travels to and from school in a secure and regulated environment.
