AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj questions the implementation of Delhi Lakshmi Yojana and alleges limited ₹2,500 payments to women under the scheme.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has questioned the implementation of the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, alleging that the BJP-led Delhi government has not provided clarity on how many women have actually received the promised financial assistance.
AAP Delhi President Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the government of making exaggerated claims about transferring ₹2,500 to women’s bank accounts under the scheme. He claimed that many women are still unaware of whether they have received any benefit, while also alleging that the government has not clearly disclosed the total number of beneficiaries.
Saurabh Bharadwaj Questions Beneficiary Numbers
Speaking about the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, Bharadwaj said the actual number of women who have benefited from the scheme should become clear around Raksha Bandhan.
He alleged that the government has extended the benefit to only a limited number of women and that several others have been kept outside the scheme because of eligibility conditions.
Bharadwaj also questioned the government’s clarity regarding the number of beneficiaries. He accused the BJP administration of using the scheme for publicity while failing to provide adequate information about its implementation.

AAP Alleges Strict Eligibility Conditions
The AAP leader claimed that the scheme does not cover all women because of several eligibility restrictions. According to him, these conditions could prevent a large section of women from receiving financial assistance.
The party alleged that the government has introduced various filters that make it difficult for many women, particularly those from economically weaker sections, to qualify.
Bharadwaj described the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana as a scheme whose actual reach should be judged by the number of women who receive money in their bank accounts rather than by government announcements.
Jarnail Singh Also Questions the Scheme
AAP MLA Jarnail Singh also criticized the BJP government over the implementation of the scheme. He said women in Delhi would ultimately reveal how many beneficiaries actually received money in their accounts.
Singh alleged that payments may have been made to only a small number of women as a formality. He argued that a welfare scheme should deliver on promises made during elections and should reach the intended beneficiaries after the government comes to power.
Comparison With Punjab Welfare Scheme
Jarnail Singh compared the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana with the financial assistance scheme announced by the AAP government in Punjab.
He claimed that in Punjab, the party had promised financial assistance of ₹1,000 for mothers and sisters and, according to him, implemented the promise without introducing similar restrictions.
Singh alleged that the Delhi government has instead imposed conditions that could exclude certain women. He cited examples related to the number of daughters in a family and electricity consumption as alleged eligibility filters.
AAP Says Women Will Decide the Scheme’s Reality
The AAP has now put the implementation of the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana under political scrutiny and said the real picture will emerge when women verify whether the promised amount has reached their accounts.
The opposition party has demanded greater transparency regarding the number of beneficiaries and the criteria used to determine eligibility.
The BJP government has been accused by AAP leaders of focusing on publicity rather than ensuring broad coverage of the scheme. The allegations are part of an ongoing political dispute between the two parties over the implementation of welfare promises in Delhi.
For now, the controversy surrounding the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana is centered on beneficiary numbers, eligibility conditions and the extent to which the promised financial assistance has actually reached women across the capital.
