Haryana government orders strict monitoring of Online RTI Applications and timely disposal by SPIOs under the supervision of senior officials.

The Haryana government has stepped up its focus on the timely disposal of Right to Information (RTI) requests submitted through online channels. Administrative secretaries and heads of departments have been directed to regularly monitor applications handled by State Public Information Officers (SPIOs).

The government wants to ensure that Online RTI Applications are properly tracked and disposed of within the prescribed time limit, with no avoidable delay at any level.

Departments Asked to Monitor RTI Requests

All administrative secretaries and department heads have been instructed to keep a regular check on RTI applications received online under their administrative control.

The monitoring exercise will focus on whether applications are being processed within the required timeframe. Departments have also been asked to strengthen their internal systems so that online requests do not remain unattended.

‘Application Not Seen’ Will Not Be an Excuse

Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi has made it clear that officials cannot use lack of internal monitoring or failure to notice an online application as a reason for delay.

According to the directions, ensuring timely action on an RTI request is a statutory responsibility of the concerned SPIO. Officials will therefore be expected to maintain proper oversight of applications received through the online system.

The Online RTI Applications received by departments will have to be handled within the prescribed period by the concerned State Public Information Officer.
