AAP MP Sanjay Singh seeks a Rajya Sabha debate on the NEET-UG paper leak as Opposition MPs raise concerns over exam reforms and student protests.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament witnessed fresh political activity on Tuesday as AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh submitted a Rule 267 Suspension of Business Notice, demanding a detailed discussion on the alleged NEET-UG 2026 question paper leak, concerns over the public examination system, police action against student protesters, and the health of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk.
Calling the matter one of urgent national importance, Singh urged the Rajya Sabha to suspend its scheduled business and take up a comprehensive debate on issues affecting students and public confidence in competitive examinations.
Sanjay Singh Raises Concerns Over NEET-UG Examination
In his notice addressed to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, Sanjay Singh stated that allegations of question paper leaks and irregularities had led to the cancellation and re-conduct of the NEET-UG examination, creating uncertainty for lakhs of aspirants.
The AAP leader argued that repeated controversies surrounding national-level examinations have raised serious concerns about the transparency and credibility of India’s examination system. He also referred to police action against peaceful protesters and expressed concern over the reported deteriorating health of environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk.
Questions Over Public Examination System
Singh claimed that recurring examination controversies have affected the trust of students and parents. According to his submission, the cancellation of the examination caused academic disruption and emotional stress for candidates preparing for medical admissions.
He further argued that repeated incidents of alleged paper leaks underline the need for stronger safeguards and accountability in the country’s examination process.

Congress MPs Move Adjournment Notices
In the Lok Sabha, Congress MP Manish Tewari submitted an Adjournment Motion Notice, requesting the suspension of Question Hour and other listed business to discuss the need for a new anti-defection law.
Tewari argued that Parliament should consider legal reforms to address large-scale political defections while protecting ideological dissent within democratic institutions.
Meanwhile, Congress MP Manickam Tagore also filed an adjournment motion seeking a discussion on the alleged irregularities in NEET-UG 2026, the academic future of students, and the registration of FIRs against students who participated in protest demonstrations.
Opposition Demands Parliamentary Discussion
The notices filed by AAP and Congress reflect the Opposition’s demand for a wider parliamentary debate on examination integrity, student welfare, democratic rights, and institutional accountability.
While the Opposition has sought immediate discussions through procedural motions, it remains for the Chair to decide whether the notices will be admitted and taken up during the ongoing Parliament session.
The developments indicate that issues related to NEET-UG, examination reforms, student protests, and governance are likely to remain prominent topics during the current Monsoon Session of Parliament.
