AAP Punjab leader Baltej Pannu attacks Sukhbir Badal over Dharam Yudh Morcha remarks, raises questions on Akali Dal’s past and sacrilege issues.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab General Secretary and Media In-Charge Baltej Pannu has launched a sharp attack on Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Sukhbir Singh Badal over his reported remarks about starting a new “Dharam Yudh Morcha”.
Pannu questioned Sukhbir Badal’s understanding of historical religious movements and alleged that leaders who have grown up with political privilege cannot understand the struggles associated with such movements.
Taking a dig at Badal, Pannu said that statements made over “pizza and diet coke” cannot represent the seriousness and sacrifices associated with religious struggles.
‘Badals Have Misled Punjab on Several Issues’: Baltej Pannu
Baltej Pannu accused the Badal family and SAD leadership of misleading the people of Punjab on various issues over the years.
He alleged that during the 2007-2017 period, the state witnessed a severe drug crisis due to wrong policies and failures of the previous government. Pannu claimed that an entire generation of Punjab’s youth suffered because of these issues.
He also raised questions over the events of 1996, alleging that instead of establishing a Truth Commission as promised, several individuals involved in past incidents were given positions and promotions.
AAP Leader Questions Sukhbir Badal’s Dharam Yudh Morcha Statement
Pannu asked where the announcements made by Sukhbir Badal regarding a new Dharam Yudh Morcha had gone and questioned the seriousness behind such statements.
He claimed that the Shiromani Akali Dal has repeatedly used emotional issues for political gains and has failed to provide answers on several matters concerning Punjab.

Baltej Pannu Raises Sacrilege Issue, Refers to Faridkot Court Proceedings
While targeting the Akali Dal leadership over the sacrilege issue, Baltej Pannu said that the party had misled Punjabis on the matter.
He claimed that after studying the Faridkot court judgment, several questions were raised regarding the previous government’s handling of the case.
Pannu alleged that the Badal government failed to deliver justice in the sacrilege cases and accused the leadership of ignoring public concerns.
Allegations Regarding Cases Against Bibi Parmjit Kaur Khaira
The AAP leader also made allegations regarding cases registered against Bibi Parmjit Kaur Khaira, claiming that cases were filed during the Badal government period.
Pannu alleged that members associated with the Khaira Committee faced pressure and harassment during that time.
He further claimed that while sitting in power, the Akali leadership took decisions against community interests, but later attempted to raise similar issues politically.
AAP Continues Attack on Akali Dal Leadership
The latest remarks from Baltej Pannu are part of AAP Punjab’s continued criticism of the Shiromani Akali Dal leadership.
AAP leaders have repeatedly targeted the Badal family over issues including governance, drugs, sacrilege cases and alleged misuse of power.
Meanwhile, the Akali Dal has often rejected such allegations and accused AAP of using political narratives to target opposition parties.
The political exchange between AAP and SAD highlights the ongoing battle for public support in Punjab, where historical, religious and governance-related issues continue to remain major political talking points.
